Ghana's group opponents for the next round of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup would be announced on October 22.

Tournament organisers, Fifa, would hold the draw for the qualifiers in Zurich though it was originally scheduled for Cape Town earlier than planned.

Goals from Sulley Muntari and Junior Agogo in the first half and a third from Matthew Amoah in the second half gave Ghana all three points and top spot on goal difference in Group 5 ahead of Gabon who beat Libya 1-0 in Libreville.

Ghana, one of Africa's best ranked teams this year expect to be seeded in one of the five groups of twenty teams for the next stage of the competition as the rest of the continent anticipate a tough campaign.

The twenty teams through are Cameroon, Kenya, Benin, Nigeria, Ghana, Gabon, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Rwanda, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Mali, Sudan, Zambia, Togo, Malawi, Guinea, Mozambique and Egypt.

They will be placed into five groups of four each with the winners through to the 2010 World Cup and the top three going through to the 2010 Nations Cup.
