FC AshantiGold ’04 returned to the summit of the Zone Two league table after edging regional rivals New Edubiase United 3–2 at the Bekwai Gyamfi Park in Obuasi on Sunday. The Miners have now amassed 37 points from 18 league matches, reclaiming the top spot.
Ebusua Dwarfs dropped to second place in the Zone Two standings, one point behind the leaders, after being held to a goalless draw by mid-table Skyy FC at the St. Martins School Park on Sunday. The stalemate brought an end to the former Premier League side’s impressive five-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Sekondi Rospak SC extended their unbeaten run to five matches with a convincing 3–0 home victory over struggling Ebony FC at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium on Sunday. Derrick Junior Asare opened the scoring in the 11th minute, before Ruben Tetteh doubled the advantage from close range in the 80th minute. Stephen Anthony Kofi wrapped up the win with a stunning goal seven minutes later. The victory propelled Sekondi Rospak SC into third place in the league table with 32 points.
