Ghana's two continental representatives lose their first leg knockout round games away in the Champions League competition.

Hearts of Oak would need to overturn a 3-0 deficit handed them by Gabonese side FC 105 in the Champions League on Sunday and stay in contention.

The Phobians were beaten in the first leg of the first knockout round away of the competition in Gabon.

Hearts, winners of the competition in 2000, though favoured to get a result in Libreville would return to Accra for reverse fixture which takes place in two weeks time.

Just before the game headed into recess, Hearts were stunned with a goal on the stroke of half-time.

And back from the break, FC 105 added two more goals to complete the task.

In the other game involving another Ghanaian representative in the Champions League, there was no good news either as AshantiGold were also on the losing side in Niamey.

The Miners were beaten 1-0 by Sahel SC of Niger. Sahel SC, coached by Ghanaian coach, Abdul Karim Zito scored in the match winner in the 29th minute of the first half.

Both Ghanaian sides will need to win their return matches at home by a better goal difference to secure them places in the third round of the lucrative competition in April and May.

The return leg of both matches will be played at the end of the month.
