FA Presidential elections set for April 28

The Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association at its meeting today has approved the timetable for the elections for President and Executives.

A three-member Elections Committee has been approved by the Ex.Co to oversee the elections and liase with the Electoral Commission.

The Elections Committee would be chaired by R.O. Solomon with Lawyer Annan and Emmanuel Gyimah, the Deputy General Secretary of the FA serving as members.

According to the electoral timetable:

- The Nomination for election of President would be opened from March 21-25, 2011.

- The Election of President shall be held April 28, 2011 at Congress.

- Nomination for Executive Committee and Regional Football Association would be opened from May 9-13, 2011.

- Election of Representatives from other Constituent Bodies - Schools, Colleges and Universities, Security Services Sports Association, Coaches Association, Referees Association and Players Association - May 19, 2011.

- Election of Premier and Division One League May 20, 2011.

- Election of Regional Football Association:

Northern Region - May 26, 2011

Upper East Region - May 27, 2011

Upper West Region - May 30, 2011

Brong Ahafo Region - June 1, 2011

Ashanti Region - June 3, 2011

Eastern Region - June 6, 2011

Volta Region - June 8, 2011

Western Region - June 10, 2011

Central Region - June 13, 2011

Greater Accra Region - June 15, 2011

Congress, the legislative and supreme body of the FA would swear in the President and other Executive Committee members on June 21, 2011.

Four members of the Executive Committee have confirmed their intentions NOT to seek re-election.

They are: Aloysius Denkabe (Constituent Bodies) Awuah Nyamekye (Premier League) Nana Ntiri Dankyi (Division One League) and Lee Yankey (Western RFA).
