FA demotes, ban and fine clubs

The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association has found four division one clubs, team officials and some 46 players guilty for their roles in playing in a non-competitive match during the last day of the promotion league.

The four clubs – Mighty Jets, Great Mariners, Okwawu United and Nania FC appeared before the Football Association’s panel in connection with the Zone III fixture results on the final day for promotion to the premiership which produced 59 goals involving the four teams on March 28.

The results of the matches have been declared null and void and expunged from the FA’s records in pursuant of Article 34 1 (i) and (7).

All the clubs forfeit the matches and have been dogged three points each from their accumulated build up in the Zonal middle league

Nania FC, Mighty Jets, Great Mariners and Okwawu United have all been demoted from division one to the division three in accordance with Article 39, (4) (9).

The four clubs have each been slapped with a fine of 50 million Cedis in accordance with Article 39, (4) (9) of the FA regulations.

Players who featured in the match-day-III fixture involving the four clubs have also been hit with a year’s ban with effect from the end of the season.
