One of Ghana’s oldest cup competitions, the Football Association Cup, commonly know as FA Cup is set for a re-introduction this season since 2001 when the last tournament was played.

A meeting between the Ghana Football Association and club representatives today perused the proposal for the FA Cup competition over the next three football seasons.

The FA Cup by its tradition always involves clubs from all tiers of the Ghana league system playing against each other for the ultimate trophy.

For the first edition since 2001, all three tiers of Ghana Football would be involved. Thirty-two clubs from the Division Two League would start the competition before all clubs from the Division One and Premier Leagues join at different stages.

The inclusion of the Division Two League clubs would see a total of 96 clubs battling for the FA Cup with the Premiership clubs entering the competition at the Round of 32.

The knockout competition would record a total of 111 games from the preliminary stages to the final match.

Asante Kotoko won the last competition in 2001 after beating city-rivals King Faisal in the competition which started in 1958.
