Newly promoted French side, Evian Thonon Gaillard are excited with the signing of Ghanaian defender, Jonathan Mensah.

The 21 year-old player agreed a four-year deal on Thursday to play top flight football next season in the French Ligue 1.

Evian Thonon's sporting director, Pascal Dupraz is happy that the club has been able to secure a youngster who has a senior World Cup experience.

“At 21, he (Mensah) already has three games on his resume World Cup and that is not for nothing. Sometimes a player is free and very powerful and goes fast. Bernard Casoni (head coach) wants to have four central defenders, we have three currently. We are therefore lacking, ” Dupraz said.

Mensah joined Evian Thonon from Italy's Udinese.
