Michael Essien has won his first trophy of the season after helping Chelsea to the Community Shield with victory over Manchester United in season curtain-raiser.

Chelsea had to come back from a goal down to take the lead with goals coming from Ricardo Carvalho and Frank Lampard after Nani's opener for the champions.

The Blues were set for success in 90 minutes but an injury-time goal from Wayne Rooney leveled the game 2-2 to set up a penalty shoot-out.

And Essien's Chelsea were the jubilant team at Wembley defeating United 4-1 on penalties to lift the Community Shield.
