The Eastern Regional Football Association (ERFA) has held its maiden 2026/2027 Division Two Strategic Football Development Summit as part of efforts to strengthen the administration, governance and competitiveness of Division Two football in the region.

The summit, held at the Oyinka Hotel in Koforidua on Thursday, August 27, 2026, brought together representatives of Division Two clubs, referees, the Club Licensing Board and the ERFA to discuss key issues ahead of the new season.

Participants reviewed the previous league season and examined the new competition format and framework, while discussions also focused on club governance, administrative responsibilities, Club Licensing requirements and regulatory compliance. Recent amendments to the Laws of the Game were also highlighted to ensure stakeholders remain abreast of changes affecting the competition.

The Association’s digital communication, visibility and commercial development agenda also formed part of the discussions, with stakeholders exploring ways to enhance the profile and commercial appeal of Division Two football in the Eastern Region. The demonstration of Eyeball football technology further highlighted the role of innovation and technology in the development of the game.

Unlike a conventional one-way engagement, the summit provided clubs with the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification and make strategic recommendations on issues affecting their operations and the competition.

The engagement reinforced the need for greater collaboration, professionalism, transparency and accountability among all stakeholders as ERFA seeks to establish a more structured and sustainable Division Two football environment.

With the 2026/2027 season set to commence, the summit represents an important step in aligning stakeholders around a common vision for the competition and ensuring that stronger structures off the pitch translate into improved standards and competitiveness on it.
