Ghana put in an assured display to beat Congo 3-0 in a 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier and now set the stage for the historic clash with England.

The Black Stars stay top of Group I in the continental qualifying but with a better goal difference after Sudan also secured a 3-0 win over Swaziland on Sunday.

Goran Stevanovic's side travel to London for Tuesday's international friendly, the first between both nations at senior level.

Prince Tagoe and Dominic Adiyiah scored in the first half for the Black Stars before Sulley Muntari added a third goal with lead striker, Asamoah Gyan watching proceedings from the stands.

Gyan was suspended for the game in Brazzaville but can be called upon by Stevanovic against an England side that would be bereft of some key personnel ahead of the match.

The English FA today confirmed the release of John Terry, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Michael Dawson, Wayne Rooney and Kyle Walker to their clubs.

However, the win over Congo should be a real boost for Africa's top-ranked team going into the game against England, who still possess a formidable squad under Fabio Capello.

Stevanovic's England-based quintet of Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari, John Mensah, Richard Kingson and John Paintsil will lead the cast at Wembley.
