Karela United FC on Sunday beat King Faisal 2-0 at the Crosby Awuah Memorial park at Anyinase to maintain their position on the League log with 11 points.

The home side started the game by piling pressure on the visitors and that incessant pressure paid dividend before the break. Diawusie Taylor missed a penalty in the dying embers of the game but his goal in the first half gave Karela United the lead in the 43rd minute after connecting from close-range.

King Faisal however returned from the break with a different approach to the game, keeping much possession but nothing to show on the score sheet.

Karela regained hold of the match and pushed King Faisal into their own half but couldn’t take advantage of the half chances that came their way.

Kwame Boateng was called upon by coach Stephen Abugri in the 53rd minute as Karela went in search of an insurance goal.

The hosts were given an opportunity to seal off the match after they were awarded a penalty by referee Maxwell Owusu. But Taylor Diawusie failed to score from the spot. However, the hosts got their second goal in the 78th minute through substitute Kwame Boateng.

Karela United held on to the 2-0 lead to clinch the maximum points at the expense of King Faisal who are struggling to churn out results. The victory ensures Karela United maintain their top spot with 11 points from 5 games.
