Accra Hearts of Oak will make a return to the Accra Sports stadium to square off with Bechem United on Match Day 11 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday. The Phobians who are recovering from a slow start to the season make a return to the national stadium for the first time since Sunday, November 28, when they hosted Algerian side J.S Saoura in the 1st leg of the CAF Confederation Cup play offs.

Hearts of Oak have won three and drawn one of their last four Premier League matches since their exit from the CAF Inter Club competitions following victories against Elmina Sharks (1-0), Accra Lions (2-0) and Berekum Chelsea (2-0) – and Christmas eves’ 2-2 draw against Dreams FC.

Four points separate the two sides – as Bechem United find themselves four points clear – sitting in 4th place with 17 points five places above Accra Hearts of Oak who are on 13 points with two games in hand.

Kofi Kordzie would seek to continue from where he left off having netted twice in midweek against Berekum Chelsea at the Cape Coast stadium.

Last season’s top performer Afriyie Barnie is also picking up the pieces after scoring in two successive matches against Accra Lions and Dreams FC. A win for Hearts will add to their steady rise in the League standings despite having two outstanding matches.

Bechem United have been highly impressive in the opening stages of the season – after winning five, drawing two and losing three in their 10 outings.  However, their record on the road has been nothing but poor – having lost three and drawn two in five matches.

They picked up a vital point against Great Olympics during their last visit to the Accra Sports stadium and would savour that moment heading into this encounter.

The match is scheduled for live Broadcast on StarTimes Adepa channel 247 on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at 3pm.

In other Sunday fixtures: Real Tamale United welcomes Dreams FC to the Aliu Mahama stadium. The giants of the North head into the game fresh from their 2-1 loss to Accra Lions while Dreams FC comes off a hard earned 2-2 draw against champions Accra Hearts of Oak in Dawu. The Still Believe lads are 6th in the League table with 15 points – one point richer than Real Tamale United who are in 8th place with 14 points.

Joint leaders King Faisal who eliminated city rivals Asante Kotoko from the MTN FA Cup will play at home against Bibiani Gold Stars. Gold Stars are 7 points off the top as they trail their host by 7 points. King Faisal are unbeaten in Kumasi and would fancy their chances against the new boys.

In Sogakope - WAFA will battle Elmina Sharks in a match of strugglers as the two sides are in the bottom spot in the League log. Elmina Sharks sit at the foot of the table with 7 points while WAFA occupies the 17th position with 8 points after 10 round of matches.

Finally on Sunday, Karela United will entertain Eleven Wonders at the CAM Park at Aiyinase.
