Champions Hasaacas Ladies run over Intellectuals, Sea Lions off to first win of season – Southern Zone Review

Sea Lions beat Army Ladies 2-1 to record their first victory of the season at the Ndoum Stadium. Lions returned to their favorite home grounds after their humiliating 6:0 defeat in the hands of Regional rivals Ladystrikers on Match Day 7.

Army Ladies having won their last three games started the battle with lots of pressure that fetched them the opener on the 8th minute mark through N-Yanyimaya Gnabkan.

The visitors after taken the lead lost focus and fell to the pressure from Sea Lions until their joy was curtailed.

Comfort Dede Mensah got the equalizer few minutes later, after chancing on a loose ball in the penalty box.

Her soft kick displaced shot stopper Mary Sosu to find the back of the net on 12th minutes to make it 1-1.

Skipper Theresa Ackon Cobbinah fetched the second goal for the home side after heading home a corner kick beyond the reach of the goalkeeper few seconds before the first half whistle.

Both sides came from recess playing some eye catching football but none was able to find the back of the net.

Sea Lions attacking prowess was reduced after their skipper Theresa was pulled out on the 50th minute due to injury.

The game continued with some goal scoring moments from both teams but none was able to convert until the final while was blown after the five minutes additional time was exhausted.

Army Ladies midfielder Grace Afari was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the match.

Champions Hasaacas Ladies defeated Soccer Intellectuals 3-1 at the Adu Assasan Park. Ernestina Ayisi pulled one back for the host in the 74th minute after Doreen Copson had scored in the 1st minute to set the tone for a special day as Doris Boaduwaa and Faustina Nyamkye Aidoo added the second and third in the 10th and 17th minutes respectively.

Berry Ladies shared the spoils with Thunder Queens in 1-1 draw at the Madina Astro Turf. Philomena Abakah rescued her side as she scored from the spot in the 60th minute to give them a point. Deborah Opoku scored in the 31st minute to give Thunder Queens a well-deserved lead.

Immigration Ladies will host Lady Strikers at the McDan La Town Park on Tuesday.

Faith Ladies will also battle against Police Ladies at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 3pm.
