The Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League resumes this weekend after making way for the semi-final of the Women’s FA Cup last week. In the Northern Zone, defending champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies travel to relegation threatened Pearlpia Ladies at the Kulikuli Astro Turf. The defending champions would look to pick up maximum points to boost their title defence whilst their host aim for a win to arouse their survival hopes.

Here is what to expect in the Northern Zone of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

FOSU ROYAL LADIES VRS PRISONS LADIES

Fosu Royal Ladies will be at home to Prisons Ladies at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman. The debutants drew 1:1 with Prisons Ladies in the first round – making this game a must win encounter. Fosu Royal, have had a good run in their debut season as they currently lie 6th on the table with 20 points – 10 points adrift of leaders Ampem Darkoa Ladies. They are unbeaten in their last two games and would look to extend their run to finish in the top half of the table. Prisons Ladies on the other hand have been inconsistent on the road but go into this fixture buoyed by the 2-1 win over champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies on Matchday 15.

 

PEARLPIA LADIES VRS AMPEM DARKOA LADIES

Relegation threatened Pearlpia Ladies will be at home to defending champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies at the Kulikuli Astro turf. Both teams are in need of the points for different reasons but it is the host who are in dire need of a win for survival. A defeat for Ampem Darkoa will dent their title hopes as second placed Northern Ladies continue to breathe down their neck. Fifteen points separate the two sides. Pearlpia Ladies will look to avoid defeat to hold on to their hopes of avoiding relegation whilst Ampem Darkoa Ladies press for a second defeat on the spin after losing to Prisons Ladies.

KUMASI SPORTS ACADEMY VRS ASHTOWN LADIES

Kumasi Sports Academy and bottom placed Ashtown Ladies will battle it out in local derby at the Bantama Astro turf in Kumasi. KUSA as affectionately called, are yet to find their feet with three games to end the season following their return to the topflight. The visitors have also been very inconsistent with their performances in recent weeks and are desperate to avoid another embarrassing result. At stake is the bragging rights and three points to boost either sides chances of survival.

TAMALE SUPER LADIES VRS SUPREME LADIES

Tamale Super Ladies are hoping to get back to winning ways when they play Supreme Ladies at home. Both teams know a defeat would be disastrous to their campaign and a win will bolster their hopes of finishing in the top four. With five points separating them, this fixture will be competitive and keenly contested. Supreme Ladies are 4th with 24 points whilst Tamale Super Ladies occupy the 7th spot with 19 points.

DREAMZ LADIES VRS NORTHERN LADIES

Dreams Ladies have a tough task at home to Northern Ladies at the Bantama Astro turf in Kumasi as both teams go into this fixture looking to continue their good run after picking up crucial points in their previous games. Northern Ladies are four points behind leaders Ampem Darkoa Ladies whilst Dreamz Ladies sit in third place - three points behind their host. With a chance for the title still in sight for Northern Ladies, they would go all out to close the gap at the top whilst Dreamz Ladies aim for the points to brighten their chances of finishing in the top four.
