Cameroon slumped to a surprising 1-0 defeat by neighbours Gabon in their opening African Nations Cup Group D game on Wednesday.

Striker Daniel Cousin netted the Panthers’ winner in the 17th minute when he coolly slotted home after being perfectly set up by Roguy Meye.

No team qualified for this year’s World Cup finals have won a game at the Nations Cup so far with Cameroon, Algeria and Nigeria losing their opening matches and Ivory Coast being held to a draw.

Cameroon will play Zambia and Gabon take on Tunisia in their next games on Sunday.
