The venue for Ghana's defence of the African U-20 title is still unknown after the Confederation of African Football - Caf, ruled out the possibility of Libya hosting the competition.

Caf, today announced the postponement of the competition which was scheduled for Libya from 18 March to 1 April, 2011 as they study the likely options.

Political tensions in the North African nation had always put in doubt the success of Libya hosting the championship.

According to the sport body, a new date and venue would be announced in the next few days.

"Due to security concerns and the current unstable political situation in Libya, the competition has been postponed to a later date and within a location to be confirmed by CAF in the next few days," a Caf statement read.

"CAF will inform all parties of the new confirmed dates of the event, which shall be held in the first half of this year."

Ghana is the defending African champions after winning the title in Rwanda two years ago.

Four teams will qualify for the FIFA-organized U-20 World Cup in Colombia beginning in July.
