CAF has upheld Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ protest against Edo Queens, annulling the Nigerian side’s 4-1 penalty-shootout victory in the WAFU Zone B qualifying final for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.

In a decision dated September 26, 2026, CAF’s Organising Committee for Women’s Football ruled that the shootout should not have taken place after the teams drew 2-2 in regulation time, as the competition regulations require two 15-minute periods of extra time before penalties.

The final, played on September 5 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, went directly to penalties following the 2-2 draw. CAF attributed the error to an administrative instruction and confirmed that neither club was responsible.

Ampem Darkoa’s protest was therefore upheld, but CAF rejected the request for a complete replay, ruling that the 90 minutes remained valid. Instead, the final will resume from 2-2 and proceed into extra time.

The teams will play two 15-minute periods, with a fresh penalty shootout required if the scores remain level. CAF has also directed that, where practically and legally possible, the continuation should maintain the same sporting conditions, including player eligibility, disciplinary status, substitutions, venue and match officials.

WAFU B will now announce the date, kick-off time and venue for the resumption in consultation with CAF and the two national associations.

The winner will secure the WAFU Zone B ticket to the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament.
