A late equaliser earned Aduana Stars a 1-1 draw against champions, AshantiGold at the Len Clay Stadium on Saturday.

The Miners were coasting to victory after striker Emmanuel Baffour had given them a first half lead through a spot kick until Bright Adjei volleyed in past goalkeeper Robert Dabou on the stroke of full time to share the spoils.

Baffour had given the champions the lead in the 43rd minute after AshantiGold were awarded a penalty. He scored from the spot to hand the Miners, who had drasn their last two games the lead.

Aduana piked up the pieces and pushed for the equaliser. The Dormaa side piled the pressure in the closing stages and managed to draw level after Adjei was left unmarked in the box to volley in a cross from the right.

The gestures of coach Bashir Hayford after the ball had sailed into the bottom corner of the post sumed up the frustration of the home side.

At that stage, there was no way back since the Miners had surrendered the initiative to Aduana Stars.
