Kevin-Prince Boateng admits that Wednesday's match at the World Cup was an emotional occasion against the country of his birth, especially with younger brother Jerome playing for Germany.

The Black Stars player and his half-brother Jerome Boateng made history at the World Cup last night after becoming the first siblings to feature in opposing teams.

"It was already something special for me to play against Germany," admitted the 23-year-old midfielder. "I have thought the whole day about that."

While Kevin-Prince turned out for Ghana, Jerome started for Germany in the final Group D clash at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg with the result, going in favour of the Germans who won 1-0 though both sides advance to the round of 16.

Though Kevin-Prince, who was born and brought up in Germany to a German mother and Ghanaian father, played for Germany at the junior level, he switched to Ghana recently.

But Jerome stuck with Germany and both had the chance to meet up since Kevin-Prince decided to play for Ghana.
