Wa All Stars have asked the Professional League Board to postpone their midweek OneTouch Premier League game against Accra Hearts Oak after a robbery attack on the team while on their journey to Accra for the game.

Maxwell Konadu, Public Relations officer of the club says the Blues want Wednesday’s game rescheduled to enable the team overcome the harrowing experience suffered in the early hours of Tuesday.

“We would be seeking to have the game postponed to enable us recover from this experience. We will be available for the game anytime after this week,” the former Olympic team striker told www.ghanafa.org.

The team bus of the Blues came under attack on the Techiman highway in the Brong Ahafo region in the early hours of Tuesday, around 2:00am as the robbers made away with monies and cellular phones belonging to some players and staff on board the bus.

On approaching Techiman, the bus slowed down after seeing a road block mounted. After realising that it wasn’t a Police blockade and upon seeing the robbers come out of the dark, the bus driver attempted reversing quickly but the armed robbers moved in and smashed the windscreen with their machetes.

The robbers afterwards ordered everyone on the streets and bolted with their bounty as another car approached the scene. Head coach, Emmanuel Quarshie and two players sustained head injuries in the process from the butt of the guns used by the robbers.

The team drove to Kumasi where they were given medical attention at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital before lodging a complaint at the Police Station.
