Black Stars, uniBank commemorate first anniversary

The Ghana team joined uniBank Ghana at a soiree to the commemorate their first anniversary as official Bank Sponsor of the Black Stars on Wednesday.

uniBank, wholly-owned Ghanaian bank signed $1.2m deal to become a sponsor of the senior men's national team.

Players, coaches and members of the Ghana Football Association were in attendance at the event in Accra to celebrate the partnership.

uniBank at the event presented a $400,000 cheque to the team, representing the second tranche of its sponsorship deal with the Black Stars.

GFA Vice President Fred Crentsil congratulated the bank for maintaining its relationship and supporting the Black Stars.

Stand-in captain Andre Ayew also thanked uniBank for the presentation to the team.

"On behalf of the team I want to thank uniBank for this presentation," Andre Ayew said.

"We want to assure you and all Ghanaians that we will continue to do well to ensure this relationship continues for a longer period."

The Black Stars will travel to Kampala on Thursday ahead of their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda on Saturday.

Ghana top the standings with 8 points from four games and a win will see them qualify for the Nations Cup finals for a sixth successive time since 2006.
