Ghana will open their World Cup group campaign against the United States on June 16 following Friday's draw for the 32 qualified nations.

It will be the third time in a row that both nations will be meeting at the World Cup after clashes in 2006 and 2010.

The Black Stars were also paired in Group G with former champions Germany and Portugal.

With the exception of Portugal, all the other members were in the same group at the previous tournament in South Africa.

After the opening match in Natal with the Americans, Kwesi Appiah's team will take on the Germans in Fortaleza on June 21 in a reunion of the Boateng brothers - Ghana's Kevin-Prince and Jerome of Germany.

Ghana will conclude the group action on June 26 in Brasilia against the Portuguese.

The draw, made at Costa do Sauipe in Bahia Friday afternoon, appears to have given Africa some tough opposition.

The tournament starts on June 12 Sao Paulo where hosts Brazil play Croatia.

Ghana's fixture and date:

June 16 - Natal - Ghana v U.S.A

June 21 - Fortaleza - Germany v Ghana

June 26 - Brasilia - Portugal v Ghana
