A first defeat in the qualifying for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations pushes Ghana's ambition of reaching the finals to the wire.

The Black Stars suffered a 1-0 away defeat to Uganda in Kampala on Saturday in their penultimate Group E qualifier for a place at next year's tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

Savio Kabugo's first-half header from a cross ensured that the hosts finished winners over the Black Stars at the Mandela Sports Stadium.

Ghana will now have to bounce back in the last group fixture at home to Togo on Wednesday after delaying their chance to seal their spot at the tournament.

A win for Maxwell Konadu's side would have put the Black Stars through. Despite giving their all, the Black Stars could not find the back of the net.

Starting in his first competitive game for Ghana, Razak Brimah, looking well composed saw his goal breached when Savio nodded in the cross after only 10 minutes.

The loss is Ghana's first of the final qualifying phase.

Ghana's next opponents, Togo can top the table with a win over Guinea later on Saturday.

However, the defeat to the Black Stars means that the qualification spots will not be decided before the final round of qualifiers on Wednesday.
