Milovan Rajevac is hopeful that his Black Stars will consolidate their position at the top of the standings in Group 5 of the African qualifiers for the 2010 Africa Nations Cup and World Cup campaign.

Ghana and Libya play in tonight’s penultimate Group 5 clash in Tripoli with three points up for grabs as both teams go for the spoils.

The match-up between Ghana and Libya pits two sides desirous of reaching the final phase of the qualifying campaign.

The Black Stars lead the table on goal difference ahead of the Libyans who are bent of reaching the 2010 Nations Cup before hosting the event in 2012.

But for Ghana, the stakes are much higher compared to their opponents for today.

After a dazzling 2006 World Cup debut campaign in Germany, Milovan Rajevac’s Ghana are hopeful of making it a second successive appearance when South Africa plays host to the rest of the world in 2010.

Rajevac who takes over the coaching duties of Ghana’s campaign at this stage is aware of the demands of the job as he remains convinced his players will come through the game the victorious side.

"I want a win from this game and it is what we will play for," he said.

"We will set out in a manner that will allow us to dictate the pace of the game from start to finish."

The Serbian who has been pleased with the output of his players which includes returning Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah, says the players’ desire to win the game is a big boost.

"I will tell them to play clever and enjoy themselves. After all the preparations we put in this week, everything else on the pitch will depend on them on the pitch."

A win for Ghana would push the Black Stars closer to a place in the final phase of the African qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup South Africa with a home game next month to end the second round of the continental preliminaries.
