Black Stars set for Paris training

Ghana's preliminary World Cup squad, led by captain Stephen Appiah will begin a training camp in France Monday after departing Accra Sunday evening.

Team coach, Milovan Rajevac and 10 other players in Europe will join the bulk of the squad who departed Accra in Paris.

Michael Essien, John Mensah, Agyemang-Badu, Sulley Muntari, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Eric Addo, Mathew Amoah, Anthony Annan and Hans Adu-Sarpei were not on board the flight from Accra.

The Black Stars will be based in Paris with the first of three warm-up friendly games coming on May 27.

Ghana plays against Holland in Rotterdam on June 1 and will wrap their warm-up games three days after the game against the Dutch.

Rajevac’s side will be away in London where they play their final test game against Latvia on June 5 at Milton Keynes Dons’ MK Stadium before flying out to Pretoria the next day to settle at their South African World Cup training base.

The 30-man preliminary squad will be reduced to a final 23-man squad by June 1, the deadline day for the submission of official squads for the World Cup.

The Black Stars are paired in group D alongside three-time champions Germany, Serbia and Australia.

Ghana's opening group D game is against Serbia on June 13.
