Black Stars get down to work

Kwesi Appiah would get down to work with the Black Stars as the man in charge for the first time as Ghana prepares for the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan.

Twenty-one players would gather in Accra today with the exception of Kevin-Prince Boateng, who picked up a thigh strain over the weekend while playing for AC Milan in the Italian Serie A.

Boateng's progress is still being monitored by the Ghana medical team but Kwesi Appiah has called up a back up already.

The assistant Ghana coach after initially calling up 20 players has made two further additions, bringing in Sampson Cudjoe and goalkeeper Daniel Agyei for preparations which starts today at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.

The team will for the next two days train in Accra before leaving to Kumasi on Thursday for their first appearance on home soil since drawing with Mali at the same venue in November last year.

Ghana, losing finalist in the last tournament are aiming for a place at the competition to be co-hosted by Gabon/ Equatorial Guinea. The group also includes Congo.
