Black Stars finish 2014 in top 50

Ghana finished the year amongst the top 50 sides in the last edition of the year of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking.

The Black Stars remained unchanged at the 37th position as FIFA released the December rankings bringing the total number of matches taken into account in 2014 to 834.

Ghana, who will be heading for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea early next year finished the year on 714 points just like it gained in the November rankings.

The Black Stars are still fifth on the continental table and behind group opponents at the 2015 Afcon, Algeria, who remain on top and fourth-placed, Senegal.

Tunisia are in second with Ivory Coast in third place.

World champions Germany are still in the lead ahead of Argentina and Colombia.

According to FIFA, of the 834 total number of matches taken into account in 2014, more than half of those matches were friendlies (468), plus 302 qualifying matches for continental final competitions and 64 World Cup matches.
