A defensive error by the Black Stars resulted in a goal which gave Australia a 1-0 victory over Ghana in Friday's friendly.

Mile Sterjkowvski took advantage of John Mensah's error to finish off past goalkeeper William Amamoo in post for Ghana at the Sydney Football Stadium.

The game saw the Ghana bench handing William Amamoo his debut.

Also, Scotland-based midfielder Prince Buabeng and local players, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and David Addy, a second half substitute, all got their first starts for the senior team.

Ghana playing without regulars, Sulley Muntari, Michael Essien, Richard Kingson, Hans Sarpei and Asamoah Gyan showed class with Agyeman Badu playing an impressive game on his debut but could not finish off the many chances that came their way.

However Australia goalkeeper, Mark Schwarzer pulled some great saves to deny Ghana an chance of scoring.

The match formed part of Ghana's build up for the joint 2010 World Cup/African Nations Cup qualifier which begins in June.

Ghna would play Libya in the first qualifying game at the Baba Yara Stadium on June 1.
