Ghana are eager to turn things around when they meet Algeria on Friday to save their Africa Cup of Nations campaign following an opening defeat.

The Black Stars kicked off in Group C with a 2-1 defeat to Senegal on Monday as they go after their first points in the competition.

Ghana play Algeria at 16:00GMT in the first group game.

A win at the Estadio Mongomo over the Desert Foxes will put Avram Grant's side back in contention of a second place after their slow start.

Attacker Christian Atsu says the Black Stars have learnt from their opening defeat.

"We need a winning mentality and a lot of concentration on the pitch," said Atsu.

"We lost the game at the last minute and we have to correct our mistakes."

For the winger, they are now focused on their next game and are more determined not let slip another opportunity.

"It's true we were really disappointed - the first day we weren't happy, but we believe that the tournament is still on and we still have hope; a chance to qualify."
