The Black Starlets have concluded preparations ahead of their crucial Group D encounter against Senegal at the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat.

The youngsters head into the game seeking their first victory of the tournament after opening their campaign with an entertaining 2-2 draw against Algeria. The team has since intensified preparations under the supervision of Head Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum and his technical staff.

The final training session saw all players participate fully, with no injury concerns reported in camp ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated fixture. The players trained with intensity and focus as the technical team fine-tuned tactical details and game plans for the Senegal challenge.

Coach Ogum expressed satisfaction with the condition and readiness of his squad, insisting the players are determined to produce a strong performance.

“The boys are in good condition and we are happy there are no injury concerns in camp. Everybody trained very well and the focus is fully on the Senegal game,” he said.

The Black Starlets coach acknowledged the quality of the Senegalese side but maintained confidence in his team’s ability to rise to the occasion.

“Senegal is a very good team and we respect them because they have shown quality over the years at this level. But we also believe strongly in ourselves and what we can do as a team.”

Dr. Ogum also stressed the importance of securing victory as Ghana looks to strengthen its position in the group standings.

“We are going into the game targeting a win. The players understand the importance of the match and they are ready to give everything on the pitch. I am convinced the boys will live up to expectations.”

The technical team has spent the past two days working on finishing, defensive organization, and transitions after reviewing the opening game against Algeria.

The Black Starlets will be hoping to build on the positives from the Algeria encounter and deliver a strong performance against the defending champions as they continue their pursuit of a place in the knockout stage and qualification to the FIFA U17 World Cup later this year.
