Chairman of the Black Starlets Management Committee, Frederick Acheampong, has encouraged the national U17 team to give their best and make Ghana proud at the upcoming WAFU Zone B U17 Championship to be staged in Ivory Coast next month.
Acheampong, who also serves as an Executive Council member of the Association, visited the team on Wednesday as part of his close monitoring of their preparations for the crucial tournament. He charged the players and technical staff to remain focused and disciplined as the competition also serves as the qualification pathway to the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Starlets have intensified their camping, having moved from the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram to the University of Ghana to continue with rigorous training sessions ahead of their departure for Ivory Coast. The change in venue is aimed at further sharpening the team’s readiness for the high-level tournament.
Ghana will face strong opposition from regional rivals including Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, and Niger in the competition, which kicks off in September. The Starlets are determined to secure qualification to the continental stage and restore Ghana’s prominence in youth football.
