The Black Starlets will begin their quest for a place at the 2027 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations when they take on Togo in their opening match at the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on Saturday.

The encounter, scheduled for 18:00 GMT at the August 4 Sports Stadium, marks the start of Ghana’s campaign in a competition that serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 U-17 AFCON.

Head coach Kassim Ocansey and his technical team have expressed confidence in the team’s preparations, with the players determined to translate their work in training into a positive result against their Togolese counterparts.

The Black Starlets held training sessions in Ouagadougou following their arrival in the Burkinabe capital and also played two friendly matches against Morocco to sharpen their preparations and build confidence ahead of the regional tournament.

Ghana head into the competition with valuable experience from the previous edition of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire, where they finished as runners-up. That campaign secured their qualification for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Black Starlets will be eager to make a strong start against Togo and lay a solid foundation for their campaign in Ouagadougou.
