The Black Starlets have begun preparations in Ouagadougou ahead of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship, which serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.

The team held its first training session on Wednesday at the Terrain USFA following their arrival in the Burkina Faso capital on Tuesday. The session provided the technical team with an opportunity to get the players back into their rhythm as they step up preparations for the tournament.

The Black Starlets will open their campaign on Saturday, October 10, 2026, against Togo in what promises to be a competitive opening-day encounter. The team will be hoping to make a strong start as they seek to secure qualification for next year’s U-17 AFCON.

The WAFU Zone B U17 Championship brings together some of the region’s best young talents, with the top-performing sides battling for the opportunity to represent the zone at the continental finals.

Ghana go into the competition with valuable experience from last year’s WAFU Zone B U17 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Black Starlets finished as runners-up. Their impressive run earned Ghana qualification to the 2026 U-17 AFCON in Morocco.

The Black Starlets will continue their training sessions as they fine-tune their plans for Saturday’s opening fixture against Togo and begin their quest for another ticket to the continental stage.
