Ghana’s Black Satellites have made three changes to their starting lineup ahead of tonight’s crucial Group C clash against Senegal at the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Egypt 2025. Coach Desmond Sakyi Ofei has handed starts to Jerry Afriyie, Aziz Issah, and Lord Afrifa, as the team seeks its first win of the tournament.
The match kicks off at 21:00 local time (18:00 GMT). With all four teams in the group tied on one point apiece, a win would significantly boost Ghana’s chances of advancing to the quarterfinals.
Coach Ofei remains optimistic about the impact of the new additions: “We believe the changes will bring the energy and tactical edge required in such a high-stakes encounter.”
In the group’s other match, Central African Republic will face the Democratic Republic of Congo in another critical fixture. The top two teams from each group qualify automatically for the quarterfinals, along with the two best third-placed teams from among the three groups.
The 2025 U-20 AFCON, which kicked off on April 27 and ends on May 18, also serves as a qualifier for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025, with all four semi-finalists earning a place on the global stage.
