In a show of sportsmanship, selected members of the Black Queens paid a compassionate visit to Banyana Banyana forward Gabriela Salgado, who sustained a severe injury during the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The visit took place at the Mohamed VI University Hospital in Casablanca, where she underwent a successful operation and is currently receiving medical attention and recovering. The Black Queens extended their heartfelt well-wishes, solidarity, and prayers to the Banyana Banyana star, wishing her a speedy and full recovery.
This visit reflects the values of fair play, empathy, and camaraderie that define the Women's Africa Cup of Nations and African women’s football at large.
The gesture was warmly received by Salgado and the South African medical staff, underscoring the spirit of unity where competition on the pitch never overshadows compassion and mutual respect off it. The Black Queens and the entire Ghanaian football fraternity stand with Gabriela Salgado and wish her continued strength on her road to full recovery.
