
Head coach of Ghana’s female U20 national team, Charles Sampson, has announced a 26-player squad for the upcoming WAFU B U20 Girls’ Cup, scheduled to take place in Cotonou, Benin, from November 3 to 10, 2025.
The squad features an exciting young players as the Black Princesses prepare to defend the title they won two years ago. Coach Sampson’s selection includes four goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, four wingers, and three forwards, reflecting a well-rounded team capable of challenging for honours once again.
The Black Princesses will travel to Benin as defending champions, having clinched the maiden edition of the tournament in 2023. That historic triumph, hosted in Kumasi, saw Ghana edge out arch-rivals Nigeria 3–1 on penalties after a tightly contested final ended in a stalemate.
The WAFU B U20 Girls’ Cup has grown in prestige since its inception, serving as a vital platform for nurturing emerging female football talent across West Africa. The competition offers young players invaluable international experience and exposure, helping to strengthen the development pipeline for women’s football in the region.
As Ghana look to retain their crown in Cotonou, the Black Princesses are expected to showcase their trademark resilience, technical quality, and attacking flair, traits that have established them as one of Africa’s most promising youth sides.
