Black Meteors beat Togo 5-1 in first leg tie

Ghana’s U23 side thrashed Togo 5-1 in the qualifiers for the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations on Tuesday in Kumasi. 

Kwabena Owusu’s hat-trick, Osman Bukari and Yakubu Nassam Ibrahim  Goals were enough to give Coach Tanko Ibrahim’s side victory despite Thibault Klidje's consolation for the away side at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The Black Meteors have placed themselves in a good position to qualify to the next stage with this victory ahead of the second leg tie which will be played in Lomé, Togo.

The winner of the two legged tie will face Gabon in March next year for a place in the final stage in June.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side could face either Equatorial Guinea or Algeria in the last round of the qualifiers.

Ghana is looking to making to to the next Olympic Games after missing out of the competition since 2004.

The next Summer Olympics games will be staged in Tokyo, Japan.
