Bechem United beat AshantiGold 2-0 in a tight fixture at the Bechem Park on Wednesday thanks to goals from Peter Essien and Richard Addai.

The defeat was the Miners' fourth of the season as they are now two points off the relegation zone.

Essien opened the scoring in the 16th minute and the goal separated both sides into the break.

AshantiGold captain, Daniel Asamoah was red-carded after picking a second yellow card in the 82nd minute.

With seven minutes of play remaining, Bechem earned a spot kick and Addai converted to give the debutants their second league victory. Both of their wins have come at home.
