After Sunday’s draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, reactions have been coming in from all sides especially Group C where Ghana is placed.

Group C throws up an intercontinental clash with four teams – Norway, Canada, Australia and Ghana, all from four different continents competing for honours at September’s tournament.

When the competition kicks off, every side in Group C will surely seek to command a say in the allocation of the quarter-final berths.

Ghana has shown enough potential after coming second at the African championships and will this time try to secure a second round place as the Black Queens make their third successive appearance at the World Cup.

Team captain, Adwoa Bayor who was at the draw last Sunday after playing for the World XI team against host nation, China a day before remains confident of Ghana’s chances.

“We know about all our opponents, so the draw isn't that bad.

"Norway will be the toughest match, but we're confident of making the next round as group winners,” Bayor said.

The strength of the Black Queens is never been underestimated, a fact recognised by coach of the Australia side, Tom Sermanni.

“All our group rivals are very good, and Canada and Norway are physically strong.

“Ghana possess talented and extremely quick players. But if we play to our full potential, we could shock the world,” the Australian coach said.

Ahead of the competition, Ghana's delegation at the draw headed by FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi, Executive Committee member, Fred Crentsil and general secretary, Kofi Nsiah on Monday inspected the venue for Ghana in Shanghai.

Teams holed up in Group C will be playing at the Shanghai Hongkou Football Stadium which is one of the largest and most modern stadiums in China.

Ghana finally knows the task ahead now after the balls were drawn into the four pots for the World Cup which kicks off on September 10-30 2007.
