Former Asante Kotoko Coach Bashir Hayford will take charge of his first Premier League game Friday evening against Medeama SC at the Accra sports stadium.

The veteran trainer was on Wednesday named coach of Legon Cities following the dismissal of Goran Barjaktarevic on Tuesday, November 23, 2020.

Coach Bashir Hayford has won the Ghana Premier League two times with Asante Kotoko in the 2007/2008 campaign and with AshantiGold SC in the 2014/2015 season. He has also handled Heart of Lions, Power FC, Medeama SC and Ebusua Dwarfs all in the Premier League.

The Royals made some remarkable signings in the summer bringing in Baba Mahama, Michael Ampadu, Joanh Attuquaye, Elvis Opoku, Raphael Ocloo, Mathew Anim Cudjoe and Asamoah Gyan. But that has yet to yield the needed dividend picking only one point from two games.

They drew their opening game against Berekum Chelsea and lost heavily to Great Olympics by three goals to nil in their second League game. Coach Bashir, is expected to bring his experience to bear on the team beginning from Friday, when they take on Medeama SC.

They have conceded four goals and scored one in two games; a worrying trend that needs to be fixed to save their season. Fatau Dauda missed the season opener against Chelsea but the Ghana International, endured quite a torrid night against Great Olympics as he conceded three goals.

Legon Cities’s opponents, Medeama SC are also experiencing a difficult campaign, one of the worse in their history picking only one point in two games. They started the season with a home draw against Great Olympics before losing to Dreams FC over the weekend.

Regardless of their struggle, Medeama SC will be buoyed by last season’s majestic performance against Legon Cities, a game they won 2-0 in the truncated 2019/2020 season.

Legon Cities who are playing at home could welcome record-signing Asamoah Gyan into their fold with Medeama defender Ali Ouattara fully fit to play against the Royals Friday night.

It's a massive game for the two teams who are desperate to rewrite the wrong in the early stages of the season. Legon Cities could welcome record-signing Asamoah Gyan into their fold with Medeama defender Ali Ouattara fully fit to play against the Royals Friday night.

The two teams are in desperate need of revival after picking just a point from two games.

The game will be broadcasted live on StarTimes Adepa Channel 247 at 6pm.
