Avram Grant is set to hold final talks with the Ghana Football Association after emerging as the lead contender for the Black Stars coaching job.

The former Chelsea manager was ranked as the first choice from the three-man shortlist who were interviewed by a GFA panel.

Juan Ignacio Martínez and Michel Pont were the two other candidates interviewed for the vacant Black Stars job.

The talks will centre on the job requirement and conditions of service with the hope of reaching an agreement.

"The committee have submitted its report and we believe that all the three who were interviewed are meritorious of occupying the position of the Black Stars coach but in terms of ranking our preference is Mr Mr Avram Grant and Jimenez [Juan Ignacio Martínez] is second choice," GFA President told the media a press session in Accra on Friday.

"So we will engage him on the details of the job requirement and expectations which will span from remuneration and conditions of service etc. If we reach and agreement with him then we will appoint him as coach if not then we will move to our second choice."

The appointment of a new coach will fill the vacuum following the parting of ways with Kwesi Appiah.
