Australia boss Pim Verbeek hopes his Socceroos bounce back in their next game against Ghana after a disappointing defeat in their opening World Cup game.

The Socceroos were sent crushing, 4-0 by Germany despite starting the brighter of the two sides in the Group D game on Sunday in Durban.

Verbeek now expects his side to pick themselves up for their next game against Ghana if they have any chance of making it to the second round.

"Our next game is a final. We have to learn from this game. We have six days to recover physically and mentally.

"We have six days to find out who's the best starting XI to beat Ghana."

The Socceroos play Ghana's Black Stars on Saturday, June 19 in Rustenburg.
