The Black Stars number 10 shirt vacated by Stephen Appiah due to injury would be in use when the African Cup of Nations kicks off.

Stephen Appiah has always led the Black Stars wearing the number 10 shirt, but in his absence because of injury, the jersey would not remain in the locker.

Young forward, Kwadwo Asamoah who is making his CAN debut will wear the number 10 for Ghana at the Nations Cup.

Number 10 has traditionally been associated with the star players of the Black Stars, having previously been worn by the likes of Abdul Razak, Opoku Nti, Abedi Ayew Pele, C.K. Akunnor and until recently, Stephen Appiah himself.

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, has been handed his chosen number. The Celta Vigo striker will wear the number 20 shirt for Ghana.

John Mensah sticks to his favoured number 5 jersey while John Pantsil goes for the number 4 jersey.
