Nathaniel Asamoah has played down his goalking frustrations in the league and vowed to help Asante Kotoko lift the MTN FA Cup.

The striker, with 12 goals was overhauled over the weekend by new leader, Emmanuel Clottey, with the Chelsea striker jumping to 15 goals in the Premier League.

Though disappointed about the turn of events as the possibility of his rival lifting the golden boot award looms large, Asamoah says his efforts would be geared towards ensuring that Kotoko goes past Heart of Lions in Wednesday's quarter-final fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium.

“Helping Kotoko to win the FA Cup is my target not the golden boot,” the Kotoko striker said.

“If I am able to come out as the top scorer fine, but now all that I am looking forward to is to help my team emerge winner of the FA Cup.”

Asante Kotoko have already missed out of the league title after Berekum Chelsea claimed their debut trophy, then with matches to spare, as the Porcupine Warriors have also slipped in the race for second place.

Certainly, an FA Cup success represents their chance to glory and a place in Africa - Confederation Cup.

Buty before edging closer to the last four, Kotoko would have to defeat Lions in the game in Kumasi which kicks off at 18:15 GMT [6.15pm].
