AshantiGold remain confident of progressing beyond the round of 16 in the Caf Confederation's Cup when the play Etoile du Sahel in the reverse game on Sunday.

The three-time Ghanaian champions are faced with elimination after losing 3-0 in the first leg in Sousse.

Their chances of qualifying remains very slim for now but AshantiGold captain Daniel Asamoah, who caused a penalty in the first leg is very confident that the Miners would overturn the deficit as he reveals how motivated they are for the game this weekend.

"This is the best opportunity to showcase our talent to the rest of Africa and the world, and we are motivated by that. We want to make the best of it and Etoile cannot stand our way. Also, with Ashgold current position in the league, we are uncertain of playing in Africa next season and this remains the only chance," he said to Cafonline.com.

Asamoah is taking inspiration from the fact that the Miners remain the country's only club-representative in continental football.

"All is not lost. We are the only surviving representative from Ghana and we need the support of all to achieve this feat. With the current level of Ghana football, it will be disturbing to have no representative at the next stages of the continental club championship. Currently, Ghana has only one slot each for the CAF Champions League and the Confederation CUP, and the trend may continue if Ashantigold exits like league champions, Aduana Stars."

AshantiGold need to score at least four an unanswered goals at the Len Clay Stadium to ensure progress and that would certainly come with some amount of pressure.

"Football remains unpredictable and scoring four goals will not be easy. We can score one, two or five but we are motivated to make history at this stage."

"It is a normal feeling when playing at home, the fans expect so much. Expectations are very high as usual and we are looking forward to the game," he added.
