Kwesi Appiah hopes Ghana makes a fresh start to their All Africa Games campaign when they take on hosts Mozambique this weekend after losing their opening game in Group A.

While South Africa has qualified from the three-team group, the Black Meteors know that a win in their final game would take them also to the semi-finals of the competition.

Armed with the desire to progress, Appiah is demanding that his side do not repeat the mistakes of the first game but get more clinical in front of goal.

“We failed to convert the numerous chances especially in the first half where we could have scored two or three goals,” he said.

“I think the boys did well but then the only thing missing was the finishing. South Africa got a lucky break with their only opportunity in our danger area and fortunately for them they scored.”

The Black Meteors are aware of the high stakes as they come up against the hosts but Appiah remains optimistic about their chances.

“It is always difficult playing against the host nation, while playing against the crowd, sometimes you could also be playing against the referee.

“But I am sure we will be able to cope with that, we only have to keep our concentration throughout the 90minutes and I am sure we will be fine,” he added.
