Injured Ghana captain Stephen Appiah is backing the Black Stars to maintain their winning form in the 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup qualifying campaign.

Appiah, who is recovering from an injury which has kept him out of action for some six months, says the opening match victory over Libya was a good starter for Ghana.

“The win against Libya was emphatic and fantastic and I will like to congratulate my Black Stars colleagues for a good start."

Ahead of the next three games, all in June, Appiah hopes the Black Stars would preserve their winning form.

The Black Stars would be action again in Group 5 as the qualifying campaign continues this Sunday with an away game to Lesotho in Bloemfontein, South Africa before two games against Gabon, this month.

"I also want urge them to carry that good form into the next three games to ensure we are safely through to the next rounds." Appiah added

"We shouldn’t get carried away as in football you can fall from grace very easily.

"As long as the boys keep working hard we will be fine and I have no doubt that is what they are doing," he concluded.
