Three-time World Cup finalist, Ghana will be looking to maintain their winning consistency against the US, the team they've played the most in their tournament history.

Past matches have always gone in favour of the Black Stars ahead of their third meeting on Monday in Natal as they kick off their Group G campaign.

Though there might be cause to be optimistic, having eliminated the United States from the past two World Cups, the rivalry which will be renewed again in Brazil is not lost on Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah.

"The United States are a very, very good team," Appiah said.

"It's not going to be easy. We have to make sure our players are playing their roles well.

"We hope to give them a very good game."

Ghana defeated the United States in the group stage in 2006, and in the Round of 16 in 2010.

It is the seventh straight World Cup appearance for the US with coach Jurgen Klinsmann anticipating an exciting game at the Estadio das Dunas.

''I think we are every year making another step forward,'' Klinsmann said.

''We always now approach games where we say we don't look at ourselves as an underdog, even if a lot of people want to put us as the underdog. In this very difficult group, we're not.

''We're going to go in there and take the game to Ghana and they will take it to us, and then we'll go back and forth and hopefully the people see an exciting game and us as a winner at the end of the day. And then we go from there.''
