Andre Ayew is urging his team-mates to rise to the occasion as Ghana push for a place at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars, who lead the standings in Group E prepare for their vital final game in the qualifying campaign with Togo on Wednesday in Tamale.

Ayew, who led Ghana as they endured their first defeat in the campaign in their 1-0 loss in Kampala on Saturday to Uganda is confident of shaking off a knock to return for the Black Stars.

The Marseille attacker is hopeful of leading the Black Stars out in Tamale knowing victory or even a draw will book them a spot in Equatorial Guinea next year.

“We are going to prepare and try to get our three points to secure our qualification," Ayew said ahead of the final group game at home.

“It can be three points, it can be one. A point will take us through. When you are in a league like this, the most important thing is to get to your goal. And our goal is the qualification. Anyhow we qualify, I would sign for it.”

Ghana's loss coupled with Togo's defeat to Guinea in the other Group E fixture has thrown the group wide open. All four teams - Ghana 8pts, Uganda 7pts, Guinea 7pts and Togo 6pts - stand an equal chance of qualifying for next year's tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

“Personally, I think it’s a tough group,” he said.

Ayew pointed out that the expectation for everyone who wears the Ghana shirt is really high but admitted that they know what it would mean to every football fan in the country, as well as themselves to qualify for the finals.

“We are leading the group. But there are countries behind us who would have loved to be in our place. Being Ghana, the expectations are really high and we need to step up our game and make sure that we take our country to Equatorial Guinea.”
