Ampem Darkoa, Super Cup final and Champion of Champions take center stage this weekend

Ampem Darkoa Ladies will play Nigerian side Delta Queens in the final of the WAFU B Women’s Champions League quailers in Benin City, Nigeria on Thursday, August 31,2023.

The free scoring Ghanaian champions will aim for a win to pick the sole ticket in the Zone having failed to qualify for the Women’s Champions League last year.

Coach Nana Adarkwa’s side have been brilliant in the entire competition playing some beautiful football to the delight of football fans in Benin City.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies posted a 6-1 victory over Sam Nelly FC in the semifinal and would go into the final as favourites.

Delta Queens topped Group A after completing three straight victories, including a 2-0 shutout of Benin's Sam Nelly. Goals from Owoeye Temitope and Ifeoma Ifitezue saw Delta finish the group stage as winners.  They worked off their socks to beat Ivorian club Athletico FC 3-2 in the semi-finals on Monday.

In Group B, a Mary Amponsah hat-trick powered Ampem Darkoa to a 3-1 win over Atletico FC of Ivory Coast, securing first place.

Amponsah struck twice inside 15 minutes before completing her treble on 28 minutes. Despite a late consolation, Ampem Darkoa remained in control to seal top spot.

In the semifinal, Ampem Darkoa dismantled Sam Nelly of Benin 6-1 on Monday.

Victory for either side will send them to the continental showpiece in Cote D’Ivoire later this year.

Elsewhere at Abrankese, Skyy FC will clash with Bofoakwa Tano in the final of the Division One League Super Cup at the Dr. Kyei sports complex.

Finally on Sunday, League champions Medeama SC and FA Cup winners Dreams FC will do battle in this seasons Champion of Champions at the Cape Coast stadium.

Both clubs are raring to go - following their impressive results in the ongoing CAF Interclub competitions. Medeama SC eliminated Remo Stars from Nigeria in the champions League whiles Dreams FC came from behind to beat Milo FC 2-1 to progress to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Champion of Champions - curtain raiser for the new season will be a keen contest as both sides push to go into the new season on a positive note.

The match is scheduled for 6pm kick off at the Cape Coast stadium.
